The Greene County boys and girls cross country teams ran in the Panorama cross country invitational Sept. 17.
“This is always one of the toughest meets of the year, both in regards to the course, as it is very challenging with many hills, and the competition level,” coach Jeff Lamoureux said. “Many of the top teams in the area were at this meet. The times continue to improve and I look forward to our upcoming meets.”
The boys placed eighth of 20 teams.
Luis Velazco was the first Ram across the finish line, in 17th place with a time of 18:22. The first 20 finishers received medals. Other Rams whose places went into the team score were Logan Woodruff, 23rd, 18:38; Jayden Carstensen, 45th, 19:35; Dakota Mobley, 56th, 19:58; and Ethan Frederick, 58th, 19:59. Jax Carstensen finished 92nd in 21:33, and Ethan Larsen finished 96th, in 21:57. A total of 144 runners competed.
Madrid won the boys meet with 60 points. Other team scores were Earlham 67, Des Moines Christian 87, Ogden 156, Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center 174, Nodaway Valley 191, IKM-Manning 199, Greene County 199, Clarinda 211, Kuemper Catholic 213, Tri-Center 298, Southeast Valley 319, Boyer Valley 337, Woodbine 339, Van Meter 353, Woodward Granger 474, CAM 480, Ankeny Christian Academy 490, West Central Valley 534, and Woodward Academy 583.
The girls finished in 17th place of 17 teams with 422 points.
Conner Allender paced the team, finishing in 53rd place with a time of 25:05. Other places and times were Makala Kafer 83rd, 27:29; Olivia Shannon, 84th, 27:29; Autumn Stevens 100th, 29:54; and Sadie Wilson 102nd, 30:29. A total of 148 runners competed.
Panorama won the girls meet with a team score of 59. Other team scores were A-C/GC 95, Van Meter 100, Des Moines Christian 102, Earlham 157, Nodaway Valley 177, Clarinda 191, Kuemper Catholic 241, Audubon 247, Tri-Center 270, Exira-EHK 310, Boyer Valley 320, Madrid 330, Ogden 348, Southeast Valley 362, and Woodward Granger 383.
